Flying to Thailand: What is the best time to buy tickets?

Sorry to repost this same thing but I started a thread and didn't hear anything back. I'm hoping maybe the experts can offer some advice. I'm heading to Thailand in January and I've been trying to get a solid answer on the best time to buy an airplane ticket to get the best value.

The plan is to fly out of Minneapolis, Minnesota and fly into Bangkok. From the research I've done online, some people say to buy tickets ASAP and some people say to wait until as late as two months before you plan on leaving. We're fine with layovers and things like that, we're just trying to get there for a good price.

Does anybody have any experience with this route or a general idea of when I can expect airfare to be the most reasonable?

Hello AVE,
From my experience, it doesn't make much difference when you book the flight.
I just booked 2 flights from Heathrow (London) to Bangkok (Thailand) one flight was booked months in advance and one flight was booked just a few days before, they were more or less the same price give or take a few pounds.
In my opinion, it is better to get the flight booked rather than risk availability or prices going up (this is more likely to happen than the price go down) ... they rarely go down to rock bottom last minute these days! (This used to happen a lot more e.g. http://www.lastminute.com - however, it seems that the airlines don't give away bargain deals anymore.)
My advice would be to get it booked! Hope that helps.

We bought our tickets last night after getting turned down by Priceline's "Name your own price" option for the second time. I don't think the Name Your Own Price would work from the Midwest US since every route has more than one connecting flight and Priceline only allows a max of one connecting when you choose the name you own option.

We ended up buying straight from Asiana Airalines and paid just over 1300 a piece. (I hope no one minds me talking price here, just thought it might be useful info for someone else.)

I guess I'll keep watching to see if there is a drastic drop in price. I've heard it is possible to get some kind of reimbursement if that happens...more research to be done on that subject.

Hey AVE, sounds like you got a pretty good price there.

I find that nearer to the time, the 'cheap seats' have usually sold out, and you end up paying around 50 quid more per flight per person (this always happens when I get a return flight before I leave, then decide to change my return date!)
With such a big flight, I think it's better to buy in advance.

There is not a great demand for air travel to Thailand. Unfortunately, and you are going during the busy season. Therefore as I know you can visit to Thailand on any time and in any month. The environment of Thailand is really amazing. To book cheap flight ticket ( http://www.bookairlinestickets.in ) provides best option. Enjoy Your Journey...
